My name is Dave Lordan. I am a 36 year old writer, performer, teacher and reviewer. Though I write plays, stories and reviews too, I’m best known as a poet, with my two books The Boy and The Ring in 2007 and Invitation to a Sacrifice in 2010 both published by Salmon Poetry in the West of Ireland. ‘The Boy…’ was lucky enough to win two big awards for first collections, the Patrick Kavanagh Award and the Strong Award. Invitation was also well recieved: RTE radio said it was an amazing book by one of the best poets I have read and the Irish Times called it as brilliant on the page as it must surely be in performance.
I’m one of those people who like to perform their poetry and I’ve been invited to do that at many venues and festivals all over Ireland as well as in England, Italy, Serbia, Canada and the USA. The Munster Express said that I was one of the highlights of the Tall Ships Festival. Heré is a couple of other things event organisers have said:
Dave Lordan rocked the tent at Flatlakes

Dave Lordan is a ferocious performer who thrilled the WERK crowd at the Abbey with his dark and lyrical rhythms, provocative subject matter and sharp delivery.

I also love teaching writing and performance skills and have been doing so for many years. I teach beginners and intermediate creative writing for adults for Co Wicklow VEC and in the Hotspot Cafe in Greystones.
I also work one-on one with adults to help them complete and edit their book projects. If you like, I can read your manuscript and provide an appraisal.
I tell stories to younger kids and give fun, themed creative writing workshops to primary school children.
I work with teenagers alongside my good friend the poet and raconteur Stephen Murray with the Youthspeaks Programme:
The most unlikely students showed off their poems proudly. I would recommend the workshops to all.
